Vakar atradāmies jaunā pilsētas daļā, mums nepazīstamā rajonā. Konkrētais iemesls: apmeklēt geju iestādes. Pasēdējām bārā La Habanilla, kas atrodas pāri par ielu no garenā parka, Alameda de Hércules. Šai rajonā atrodas vairākas geju kafejnīcas, ieskaitot Hércules Mítico un Central. Habanilla sanāca augsts procents taisno pārīšu. Iekšpusē visas sienas ar arābu stila, kapara toņos podiņiem izliktas.
Ielā Jesus del Gran Poder, klausījāmies kā tukšā telpā, kurā droši vien bijusi katukāda bode, ducis jaunu cilvēku, zēni un meitnes, padsmitnieki, mēģina ārkārtīgi spēcīgu flamenko dziesmu. Aizkustinošs piedzīvojums.
Pāri par ielu no saldējumnīcas „Rayas“ ēdām helado un skatījāmies, kā ducis pusmūža cilvēku dejo tango. Publiski sanākuši kopā, lai izbaudīt mīļu nodarbību.
Darba ļaužu rajons. Parks, kā visur Seviļā, sastāv no kokiem, krūmiem un – smiltīm. Liekas, ka Seviļas zāļāju trūkums nav (vienīgi) naudas trūkuma jautājums, kā tas manām ziemeļnieka acīm sākotnēji rādījās. Šķiet, ka tīri praktisku apsvērumu dēļ, šai pustuksnesī necenšas atdarināt izslāpušos angļu dārzus.
Cenemos con Ivy de Elsinore, Dinamarca, y su esposo. Hablábamos, entre varios tópicos, de Peter Hoeg y su novela, Borderliners. Ivy dijo que el autor sí fue estudiante en la escuela del libro. La escuela sí existía y todavía existe. La escuela está ubicada cerca de la escuela segundaria a la cual asistía Ivy. Ella conocía a alumnos de la escuela desafortunada. La novela no resultó en reformaciones acerca de las funciones de este instituto.
Ivy nos explicó su nombre inglés. Durante la segunda guerra mundial los alemanes bombardearon una escuela inglesa. Cuando estas nuevas tristes llegaban a Dinamarca, varios padres daneses decidieron nombrar sus hijos nuevo paridos con nombres de los niñs ingleses matados en el bombardeo.
Ahora habla un joven francés. Su uso del idioma inglés es bueno. Tiene acento notable, pero no me estorba. No me estorba tanto como me han estorbado otros acentos que he oido aquí. Me interesa, ¿es parte de lo que pasa que estoy acostumbrado al acento francés y como suena? Tal vez, otro aspecto podría ser que mis asociaciones (estereotípicas?) con al acento francés son positivas. En los EEUU el acento francés se considerea „tres charmant.“ El acento españl no tiene tales asociaciones positivas. Un tercer factor, sin duda, que me impacta es que el lector es joven y guapo.

The danger of a male, seemingly straight, interviewing and talking about young girls’sexual lives. His jocular disclaimer: „No young girls were hurt in the making of this project!
I interacted with the presenter on Gay Violnece, thanking him for bringing such a topic to the conference. He seemed nervous and uncomfortable, saying no more than „Thank you.“ What had I expected? Hm. More gratitude? Connection? Sí. But it was basically the decision to let him hear that I appreciated his having brought Gay into ISCAR discourse. I myself needed to say it. His response then becomes an Offer to / for me, a Quacking Duck, to which I may then, as mindfully and heartfully as I know how, respond. Responsible to be response-able.
With the kid who talked about hooking up, my offer would be to improv a Response that does not shut the dance down with his interviewees
Gita Vygotskaya, who was to speak about her father, Lev Vygotsky, and her Golden Key Schools in Russia, was denied a visa at the very last minute, so her seminar that I was to attend did not occur.

The last full day of conference activities is done. A half day tomorrow, and that’s it.
Walking back to our hotel, on one of the Cuidad Vieja’s streets, we were passed by a marvelous vision. One of the traditional carretas sevillanas (now used to show tourists around), came in sight, preceded by the ringing of cascaveles and the brisk clacking of hooves. The carriage was drawn by four beatuiful black horses with garlands of pompoms alternating red and maroon decked out on their head, face, neck and sides. The drivers were two jòvenes guapos dressed in traditional sevillano garb: tight-fitting pants, white shirts, bolero jackets and flat, round hats. In the back sat a bride in white and her father (I presume) in a tux. A spray of ivory roses to match the bride’s dress rested upon the folded-down roof behind the bride. ¡Muy elegante!
Matilde: „¿Còmo es que has aprendido el españl tan bién?“ V: „Es cuestión del destino.“ M: „Ah, ¿entonces me presumo que hay historias de amor?“ V: „¿Cómo, de amor?“ „¡Me imagino que si es cuestión del destino, es que has aprendido el idioma acausa de situaciones de amor!“
As I think about the previous two ISCRAT conferences, I see that I viewed my participation as very, very peripheral. And illegitimate. I was always worried about having the Right to talk, to verbally participate in discussions, since I wasn’t „really“ one of the group, not an academician. No such worries this time.
I also recall being much pre/occupied at these conferences with my ethnic identity. I wanted to be a Latvian to others‘ seemingly clear ethnic identities. Now, even this is not significant. I must be more comfortable with being a Borderliner.
