Sleep Dream. I am in the family house in the Springs. It is the same scenario as in the dream Marv C. at 2515 N. Union . Perhaps it is a continuation of that dream. I am walking around, really looking at things in the house, considering what to keep and what to dispose of. I go into the kitchen, which is different than the waking-world room I knew. On top of the counters above the sink are various objects d’art: bowls and vases. They are quite lovely, with bright colors. It is clear to me that Zaiga purchased them. I think how sad it is that Armīns never appreciated beauty, that he never appreciated Zaiga’s love for art.
A ceramic wine chalice catches my attention. Its fat stem is white, unglazed clay. The large bowl of a modern, angular shape, is glazed with a basic color of dark brown that has hippy-style swirls of cobalt blue, red and gray. I am surprised to find a wine goblet in the house, considering Zaiga was a tea-totaler.
I walk out into the dining room and see that the living room adjoining it is now a fast food place. A Blimpy’s perhaps. It is a small, but a going concern. There is someone in a uniform behind the counter. A couple of customers are being served. It does not surprise me that this eatery is in the house. Somehow it seems like an inevitable course of events. Everything that I knew in this house has changed. The street has become commercial and American. The Super Latvian environment that my parents tried to establish here has been obliterated. I am completely willing to let go of it all.
