Are daydreams frivolous?

In our go-go-go and do-do-do culture there seems to be a definite bias against daydreams. Daydreaming is generally considered to be a waste of time. Daydreams are seen to be insignificant. When many folks consider 8 hours of sleep (or less) to be time lost, minutes (or hours) spent in the activity of daydreaming are considered to be a total waste, not contributing to The Bottom Line. Indeed, daydreaming does require a slowing down, a relaxation that goes against the current "be productive all the time" grain. But daydreams are valuable. In addition to the joy they can afford us, they can also connect us with what is important to us on the human level.
