Working at Tang’s Imports in Boulder when I was an undergrad at CU: I’ve never much thought about that job. But last night I was visited by image upon image from that store. I saw the front area where the cash register was. The back of the store, with its huge windows opening onto the mall hallway and parking lot. The eagle’s nest office. From the night of 31 Jan 07. Yesterday morning I wrote out on a piece of paper my complete financial picture. I listed my modest income, all of the monies I have, my monthly bills, my debts. This was the result of a talk that F and I had the night before, about the scary topic of Money. F stated that he had no idea about my financial situation, which is true, and that he would like to know. In the past, this subject has caused me to bristle, feeling like he was trying to control me. My Horoscope, courtesy of Rob Brezsny: Taurus: …Fight and claw and scheme and dream to raise up the power of the feminine (yes, even if you’re a man), but only if it’s a version of the feminine that raises up everyone and everything else, too.

Dealing with the feminine certainly has been a Major Motion Picture theme of my life. And, indeed, it can be quite the opposite of uplifting and democratic. Yesterday I put in a chunk of hours and finished final-formatting the last of my blog entries. It feels wonderful to get that done.

OREN.  I am reading Jeff Rapp’s newest tome, The Practice of Ally Work. It is interesting that how he describes the Ally and the relationship between the individual (the Partner) and the Ally is almost exactly as I have experienced my dance with Oren. The book is a great reminder to take this relationship seriously. Particularly the idea of my needing to make efforts to contact my Ally, that what I feed the relationship with is my giving Oren attention; this occurred to me several weeks ago.

Piano Lesson. Steve guided and supported me as I walked through all of the Liszt finding patterns. It is so amazing to me, to finally be able to speak the language of theory fluently enough to be able to do this. And I really do have the entire piece!

Steve talked about how surprised he was at the Salon to hear that I have gained coherence regarding Chopin’s Valse Brillante. Some door opened for me, whereby I allow myself to use Chopin’s notes to express my inner world. Also understanding the piece as deeply paradoxical and disturbing, not as „nice.“

I met with D yesterday. We talked and lunched (curly haired painter Jasper joined us for eats), and rehearsed today’s script. The drive to and from Perry Park was autumnally beautiful, with changing leaves providing moments of gorgeous color. Coming back it rained in varying intensities all the way to Sedalia, giving that gentle valley a certain peaceful ease.

Ann Faraday in The Dream Game uses Perls‘ notion of Top Dog / Underdog to work with dreams. Top Dog is the critical voice, usually parental, that has its own agenda for what a life should be and rides roughshod in criticizing you to make you match what it thinks you should be and do. These voices are internalized and can lord over a person all their life. Not new info for me, but in pondering it, I realize that my A&Z voices are not tyrants in just one or two aspect of my life.  read more »

I was pondering strategies for the HOA’s leak situation. The emails have flown fast and thick since Sunday’s torrential rains that resulted in stories of wayward water entering various lofts, ours included. I sent of a certified letter to Craig yesterday asking what will be San Juan‘s strategy to resolve this soggy situation. For the HOA, it will be about gathering and organizing info, all the who-what-when-where’s, to have a Big Picture and then to negotiate with San Juan.  read more »
